We know eggs and fresh fruits are gluten free, but sometimes you want more options than that. For me, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I've been wanting to do a My Pick's segment for the longest so I've bucked down and finally sharing my picks with you.
Top of the list is Almond Milk.
I do enjoy Trader Joe's Almondmilk Beverage. It has a creamier texture compared to the Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3367813250459598130.post-22527680578387666202014-10-07T12:56:00.003-04:002014-10-07T12:56:44.556-04:00Fall Minestrone with Buckwheat Soup by Wild Apple
In case you've not heard, Wild Apple is a new and amazing recipe site dedicated to only gluten free foods. Take a look at their Fall Minestrone with Buckwheat soup - butternut squash is included. I can almost taste the beans and onions on my tongue a sign of good photography, and good soup.

Having a toddler has put my re-purposing foods skills to work. One week she's into apples, the next, she wants nothing to do with it. This goes for any food, including bananas. I bought a bunch of bananas that were on sale and of course towards the end of the week she wanted nothing to do with it. So the last few bananas turned brown and too mushy. Not the bit least attractive to eat Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3367813250459598130.post-11942241666499033662014-02-26T16:20:00.001-05:002014-02-26T17:11:45.018-05:00My Favorite Smoothies
It seems everywhere you turn someone is talking about smoothies and juicing. If you've seen documentaries like Forks over Knives and Sick, Fat and Nearly Dead you'll know how helpful fresh juices/smoothies are towards obtaining your goal for better health.
It works for me for various reasons. One example, I don't eat enough salads or veggies daily, so I "drink" my salad. I know it's October and it's the season of the gourds (pumpkin/butternut squash,etc...) but I just can't get enough of Brussels sprouts. I have Alicia Silverstone to thank for that. I posted about it here 2 years ago when I finally tried it for the first time oven roasted. I've been eating them since! Read about the benefits of eating Brussels sprouts.
So this time I tried it pan roasting, and Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3367813250459598130.post-89200321501948456772013-09-09T16:58:00.000-04:002013-12-03T21:57:47.699-05:00Chef Ramsay's Broccoli Soup
Every time I watch Gordon Ramsay do his thing in the kitchen, I just can't wait to get behind my kitchen counter and start prepping the next meal. The man sure knows his way around a kitchen.
This recipe suprised me because it was the most simplest one I've encountered from him. Broccoli Soup!

Green goodness Broccoli. Thick and creamy, simply yummy.

Did you know skipping meat even for one day can help keep greenhouse gases down? Meat Free Mondays is a movement that has been in the scene since 2009 founded by Paul McCartney with his daughters Mary and Stella. Sort of an ode to their vegetarian wife/mother, Linda McCartney. Every summer my father-in-law brings us bags of ripe vegetables grown from his own garden. Guess who's back! Sorry for the lack of entries these past couple of months. Pregnancy has taken its toll on my body, and appetite. So this new pizza place opened up near my neighborhood, and as usual, I rarely pay any mind since I can't eat the regular pizzas, what's the point. Until one day while walking passed the shop, I saw, posted in a big white banner -We also carry GLUTEN FREE PIZZA. Stop the press!

A few weeks ago we went apple picking with family, and needless to say it was a good time despite the drizzling rain. Apples taste the same wet or dry (smile). So now that my kitchen is well stocked with apples I've been baking and eating apples for the past month. A good thing I love apples, just as much as I love this Apple Crisp! Two Sundays ago my area was under threat from Hurricane Irene. The heaviest part of this storm happened during the early hours of the morning while we all slept. When I woke up, it was still raining and there were winds but the house was not flooded thank God.

With all the renovations we have going on at our "new" house we've had to make a few sacrifices this summer, like giving up summer to renovate. Not that we both don't mind since any homeowner can attest it's worth the time and investment. But when the temperatures heat those high numbers, with no A/C at the house, it can get testy.

I cannot believe how fast this summer is flying.
Speaking of flying, my father-in-law, aka Pappa Tony, has an amazing garden which have bloomed so many tasty vegetables that their flying from the garden into our mouths.
